Josh Levin is a pioneer in the recent nighttime governance movement, trading in the co-ownership of three restaurants to become the coordinator of the DC Hospitality Resource Panel (HRP) in 2000. The HRP was a voluntary advisory and advocacy alliance working to improve DC’s governance. In this interview, Josh reveals his initial resistance as an operator representative of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington to advancing several collaborative initiatives on waste management and venue security training when he transitioned to HRP coordinator. The interview jumps ahead to his career in independent theatre operator and film distributor.
