Focusing on the Mid City area of Washington, DC, this report studied the magnitude of overall nightlife activity, as well as its economic benefits. It measured the total number of nighttime establishments, annual sales, available occupancy/seats per venue, employment, operating costs, and total annual costs for products, services, licensing, and other fees. The study also measured the timing split of sales; calculated how many sales occurred between 5pm-10pm versus earlier or later in the night. Findings were based on the results of a business owner survey administered in-person by a local consultant.
